James has devoted his career to standing up for those who have been harmed by the wrongdoing of others. As an attorney and advocate, he has helped numerous clients achieve multi-million dollar results for catastrophic injuries and other types of harm. His cases have included car and trucking collisions, motorcycle accidents, pedestrian accidents, slip and falls, employment disputes, wrongful termination, discrimination claims, medical malpractice, elder abuse and neglect, and insurance-based wrongdoing.
James’s clients have included those who have suffered devastating and catastrophic injuries and loss such as paralysis, spinal cord injury, quadriplegia, paraplegia, brain injury, severe nerve damage, the loss of a limb, traumatic burns, scarring, disfigurement, complex fractures, and the wrongful death of a loved one. He has also represented clients in various types of employment cases, ranging from those who have been wrongfully fired to those who have been victims of workplace discrimination.
James works closely with his clients to understand their needs and concerns. He fights for them in each step of the case to make sure their needs are addressed and their interests are protected, both in and out of the courtroom. James is known for his enthusiasm and persistence, which he combines with sheer hard work to obtain the best possible recovery in every case he handles. He has successfully stood up for his clients and taken to task numerous types of wrongdoers such as drunk and dangerous drivers, school districts, fitness facilities, cities and municipalities, HMO’s, insurance companies, hospitals, health care administrations, and other corporations and employers. His goal as a lawyer is to show his passion for helping others through the results he obtains for his clients.
James is an active member of the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles, where he serves in committee leadership and has contributed articles, lectures, and presentations on various topics such as the Affordable Care Act and eliminating LGBTQ discrimination and bias in both the legal community and in various sectors of society. He is also an active member of the Consumer Attorneys of California, California Employment Lawyers Association, and the Cowboy Lawyers Association.
James was raised in the law. His father is the founder of a successful personal injury practice in James’s home state of North Carolina. Prior to co-founding West Seber Bulger, James worked as a trial lawyer handling personal injury cases in his father’s firm. He also worked as a litigation attorney at Heimberg Barr, LLP in Los Angeles handling medical malpractice, corporate negligence, and catastrophic injury cases. He obtained both his Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
